Ian Fennelly Sketching Tour in Australia 2027

Ian will be hosting TWO tours: each is 5 full days of sketching in the historic township of Maldon, Victoria, Australia staying in either a charming hotel with boutique ensuite accommodation, private terraces and a swimming pool or in beautiful nearby historic homes wth all comforts and amenities.
Daily excursions to local sites in the area for sketching and visiting.

ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE TIMES & DATES
WEEK ONE: arrive after 2 pm on Monday March 1 to check in to your accommodation.
Tour starts with a welcome dinner that night.
Tour ends after breakfast (before 10 am checkout) on Sunday March 7 (NB: this is the Labour Day long weekend in Victoria and Tasmania March 6-8)

WEEK TWO: arrive after 2 pm on Monday March 8  to check in to your accommodation.
Tour starts with a welcome dinner that night.
Tour ends after breakfast (before 10 am checkout) on Sunday March 14 
(NB: this workshop starts on the last day of the Labour Day long weekend in Victoria and Tasmania March 6-8)

MALDON  is a tiny township that was crowned Australia's First Notable Town by the National Trust and is preserved from  the 19th century during the famous Victorian Goldrush era of  the 1850's. 
It makes for wonderful sketching opportunities and is a great place to enjoy tranquillity and space as a sketching tour group.

Accommodation is either in a renovated, atmospheric hotel in the heart of heritage Maldon or in a self-contained beautifully appointed private historic house.
The hotel of 11 rooms has quiet comfortable air-conditioned rooms with ensuite bathrooms, your own private terrace, a shaded rose garden for relaxing in and a lovely mineral swimming pool for cooling off in at the end of the day. 
Our historic homes we use as well are nearby and of 4 star quality, fabulous accommodation all with your own bathrooms and all facilities.  Each house is rented for our clients with no hosts on site so they are very private and a gorgeous stay.

This is a fully-escorted tour with your experienced tour manager and guide Kate Stedman .
Kate is an historian, art lover and avid sketcher and she will take you to her favourite spots and regale you with fun facts and historic gems each day as well.

Ian studied painting at Wimbledon School of Art and gained a 1st Class Honours degree, is a professional artist whose artwork sells worldwide, has over 100,000 followers on Instagram and is a qualified teacher as well as a senior instructor for Urban Sketchers. Daily workshops with Ian on location and in our own dedicated indoor work/art studio, sketching the historic buildings and sights around heritage listed Maldon (Victoria's First Notable Town by the National Trust)  and satellite towns 

The itinerary will be rich and varied as Ian teaches us to sketch and paint houses, pubs, shops, views, vistas, animals and people this week.

By the end you will have your own FABULOUS sketches of iconic rural Australia to hang on your walls.
Kate and Steve are your hosts for the week and make sure you are well looked after in every way.

GETTING TO MALDON:

We recommend for interstate and any overseas  travellers that they fly into Melbourne and then catch the airport skybus direct up to HARCOURT on your arrival where we will organise a pickup for you to take you to our centrally located delightful hotel in Maldon.
You can then take the train at the end of your tour down to Melbourne or catch the AIRPORT BUS (Bendigo Airport Bus - see link below) from Harcourt directly back to the airport again.

People can of course drive (it is 1 hour and 45 mins from Melbourne) themselves if they like as there is individual parking available at your accommodation.

Transport back to Castlemaine train station or Harcourt for the airport bus will be provided by us on your departure day for those who need it.

You will be paying for your tour in AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS as we are an Australian tour company.

TOUR COST: 
1. for two SKETCHERS sharing one room:  $3,250 AUD per person sharing a twin bed room
2. for ONE sketcher in own room  $3,850 AUD per person 
3. for one sketcher plus a NON-sketcher sharing your room: $4,100 for 2 people

Final tour payment is due 120 days before travel. We will invoice you at the time this is due for the amount to pay in AUD 

WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS PRICE?

• Travel costs TO & FROM Maldon on Day 1 & 7 of the tour
• 4 dinners are at your own expense - the Maldon Pub Hotel offer dinners each night in town. The walk is 15 minutes from your accommodation. 
  (A welcome dinner and a farewell dinner only are included in the tour cost.)
• Any travel insurance (which is MANDATORY for non-Australian travellers and we highly recommend Domestic Australian citizens take out travel insurance incase they must cancel their trip and we cannot refund you your tour payment
