Explore the adriatic coastline of dramatic fjord-like bays and sheer cliffs.  We visit historic Unesco protected stone towns, cascading stone staircases, bougainvillea-lined streets, Venetian influenced buildings and glamorous pristine beaches.
This is a holiday of a lifetime experiencing Montenegran coastal history and beauty.

Montenegro is the ancient crossroads of the Greeks, Romans and Byzantines and of Slavic kingdoms with medieval gems such as Kotor, Perast, Herceg Novi and Budva.

Sandwiched between Croatia and Albania on the Adriatic coast the capital is Podgorica. 
Our tour begins at our hotel in KOTOR near TIVAT airport.

Montenegro means Black Mountain: a reference to the steep densely wooded mountains behind Kotor and Budva at Mount Lovcen.

Day 1: May 16 fly into TIVAT airport.

• Take a local 15 minute taxi to our accommodation in the old town where we stay THREE NIGHTS in Unesco world heritage KOTOR staying in our historic ancient maritime hotel, part of an old Venetian Palace. 
• Welcome celebratory dinner in Old Kotor tonight with the group
• Trip to coastal town of Perast for a sketch session
• Sketch the picturesque cobbled streets of old Kotor
• Climb the St John Fort behind Kotor or take the cable car up for spectacular views over the Bay

We then transfer on for 3 sensational nights in the atmospheric Unesco Heritage old city of BUDVA staying in an historic beautifully located 4 star hotel.

• sketch the old port and island off Budva
• sketch palm trees, fort and Byzantine church  of old Budva
• dine in the breeze under palm umbrellas along the Budva foreshore on local cuisine

Day 7  after breakfast you can taxi 30 minutes back to TIVAT airport for your ongoing travel arrangements on May 22

Day 2-6 we have daily workshops with Ian on location.
We will sketch ancient remnant fortresses, medieval towns, sailing boats in ports, dramatic views amid the stunning mountainous coastline of the Adriatic Sea. 
Kate will tell you the complex history of this ancient country.

By the end you will have your own FABULOUS sketches of  stunning Montenegro to hang on your walls.
Kate and Steve are your hosts for the week and make sure you are well looked after in every way.

GETTING TO MONTENEGRO:

There are two airports in Montenegro.
The larger one is in the capital of Podgorica (pronounced POD - GOR - ITZA)

We recommend you fly in and out of the smaller airport of TIVAT  as this is the main airport for our tour on the Adriatic.
TIVAT airport is a 15 minute taxi ride to KOTOR where we start our tour and it is 30 minutes taxi ride from BUDVA where we end our tour.

You can of course elect to fly in or out of Podgorica airport but you will need to allow over an hour by taxi to get to Kotor to start or from Budva at the end of our tour.

You will be paying for your tour in AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS as we are an Australian tour company.

2. for ONE sketcher in own room  4,390 EUROS per person 
3. for two people sharing a room: (a sketcher and a NON-sketcher): 6,480 EUROS for 2 people

Final tour payment is due 120 days before travel. We will invoice you at the time this is due for the amount to pay in AUD
