WHAT BETTER WAY TO HAVE A WEEKEND TREAT?
Patty Edge - aka The Sketching Doc on Instagram is coming to Victoria for a fabulous 2 day  workshop in the historic country town of Maldon in Victoria, Australia, one and a half hours drive North of Melbourne.

A medical doctor as well as a renowned sketcher and watercolour artist, Patty will share her knowledge and experience with you on this 2 day workshop.

Patty will introduce the joys of depicting the urban landscape in simple form with vibrant colour and ink. 
New to sketching and painting? You will love Patty's easy to follow methodology and her patience.

This is a workshop designed to introduce the basics to people new to sketching -  but people of all experience levels are welcome.
You work at your own pace and will get as much pleasure out of the workshop as those who are new to this experience. 
And we will all have lots of fun. Which is most important!

You will learn so many new skills and will have produced at least one if not more lovely sketches by the end of this 2 day workshop.

WORKSHOP COMMENCES Thursday  9 am August 14 in 2025: we will meet at our Maldon studio.

We hope to be able to go Urban Sketching en plein air at times (outside sitting and sketching in our portable chairs) but this is all weather-dependant. Our studio is warm and cosy and you will learn most of the methods in this space.

The two day workshop will include:

• learning to sketch outlines using perspective and depicting shapes
• adding shadows and shading to your sketches (see below image)
• adding watercolour: when and how
• using pen work to sharpen and contrast and add details

SUPPLIES LIST will be sent to you after booking the workshop

• Price is $250 * for the 2 day workshop.
  * (This includes the 10% GST fee)

• Your daily tuition from Patty and assistance from Kate Stedman

Travel and accommodation is not included in this workshop.

You will need to bring your own basic art supplies for this workshop. We will give you a supplies list after you have booked for the workshop.

We highly recommend you book as soon as possible as Maldon is a very popular town and weekend accommodation gets snapped up. Wednesday and Thursday  accommodation is a little easier to get. (You may want to stay Friday night or the weekend too?)

Maldon is Australia's FIRST NOTABLE TOWN and is preserved as a 19th century gold-mining village. Its main street has appeared in many period dramas and movies and it is a delight to visit and to sketch.
You may like to take you new skills and practise around Maldon on the weekend.
