Instagram post 2340677538107205777_669228813 Missing my travel sketching tours in Europe this year. Not whingeing mind you - just saying. I painted these little jobs of this tiny colorful town in Provence. The little shop front captured me as a great sketch as did the front of the town hall where once 300 years ago bread was baked and doled out to starving plague victims. Yes BUBONIC plague in 1720! Brought in on ships from the Middle East. So the Provencaux people built a 2 meter high and 27 km long wall to control the Plague’s spread. Rings a bit of a bell with these strange times... The wall kind of worked even though tens of thousands of people died but the plague did die out in 2 years.
